HUG THE WORLD 2012

Hug the World is a 6-hour-long worldwide telematic jam session, which took place on May 1st 2012 as part of New Adventures in Sound Art's Deep Wireless 2012 Festival.

The Jam session included performances of artists in 23 locations around the world, including US, Canada, Argentina, Chile, UK, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Greece, China, Australia, and New Zealand.

The event was organized and directed by Eldad Tsabary and webcast from the Electroacoustic Classroom at Concordia U
niversity's Music Department (Montreal).

The theme of Deep Wireless 2012 is Freedom and all artists were invited to consider it in their playing.

The participants networked using JackTrip (developed by Chris Chafe) and TubePlug (developed by Jorg Stelkens).

The long waiting time for joining into the jam session produced the art work titled "Wondering When It Will Be Our Turn" by Jimmy Miklavcic (on the left)

YOU AND ART
A poem by
William Stafford

Your exact errors make a music
that nobody hears.
Your straying feet find the great dance,
walking alone.
and you live on a world where stumbling
always leads home.
Year after year fits over your face—
when there was youth, your talent
was youth;
later, you find your way by touch
where moss redeems the stone;
And you discover where music begins
before it makes any sound,
far in the mountains where canyons go
still as the always-falling, ever-new flakes of snow.
